Q1      What will be the effect on maximum height of a Projectile when its angle of Projection is changed from 300 to 600, keeping the same initial velocity of Projection?

Q2      The greatest height to which a man can throw a stone is h. What will be the greatest distance upto which he can throw the stone?

Q3       A Projectile of mass m is fired with velocity V at an angle θ with horizontal. What is the change in momentum as it rises to the highest Point of the trajectory?

Q4      For uniform Circular motion, does the direction of centripetal acceleration depend upon the sense of rotation?

Q5      When a knife is sharpened with the help of a rotating grinding stone, the spark always travel tangentially to it. Why?

Q6      A skilled gunman always keeps his gun slightly titled above the line of right while shooting. Why?

Q7      A machine gun is mounted on the top of a tower room high. At what angle should the gun be inclined to cover a maximum range of firing on the ground below? The muzzle speed of the bullet is 150 m/sec, g= 10m/sec2.

Q8      At what angle should a body be projected with a velocity 24m/sec just to pass over the obstacle 16m high at a horizontal distance of 32m? Take g= 10m/sec.

Q9      Show that the motion of one Projectile as seen from another Projectile will always be a straight line motion.

 

Q10    An insect trapped in a Circular groove of radius of 12 cm moves along the groove steadily and completes 7 revolutions in 100 sec.

i)                   What is the angular speed and the linear speed of the motion?

ii)                 Is the acceleration vector a Constant vector? What is the magnitude?

iii)               What is its linear displacement?

Q11          A cyclist is riding with a speed of 27Km/hr. As he approaches a Circular turn on the rode of radius 80 m, he applies brakes and reduces his speed at the constant rate of 0.5 m/sec. What is the magnitude and direction of the net acceleration of the cyclist on the circular turn?

Q12    Find the angle of Projection at which the horizontal range and maximum height of a Projectile are equal.

Q13    Two identical bills are simultaneously thrown towards each other from Points P & Q horizontally separated by 12m, and situated at heights 4m and 12 m above the ground respectively. One ball is thrown from P horizontally with a speed of 12m/sec, while the other is thrown downward with a speed V at angle of 45O to horizontal. The two balls collide in space. Calculate

i)                   Time of collision

ii)                 Initial speed of ball thrown from Point Q.

iii)               Co-ordinates of the Point of Collision, Given g=10m/sec

Q14    If R is the horizontal range for θ inclination & h is maximum height reached by the projectile, show that maximum range is given by

Q15    From  the top of a building 19.6 m high, a ball is projected horizontally. After how long does it strike the ground? If the line joining the Point of Projection to the point where it hits the ground makes an angle of 450 with the horizontal. What is the initial velocity of the ball.

 

 

Q16    A stone tied to the end of string 80 cm ling is whirled in a horizontal circle with a constant speed. If the stone makes 14 repetitions in 25 seconds. What is the magnitude and direction of acceleration of the stone?

Q17    An aircraft executes a horizontal loop of radius 1 Km with a steady speed of 900 Km/hr. Compare the centripetal acceleration with the acceleration due to gravity.

 

Q18    A cricketer can throw a ball to a maximum horizontal distance of 100m.  How much high above the ground can the cricketer throw the same ball?

 

Q19     i)          At which Point of Projectile path the speed is minimum?

ii)         At which speed is maximum?

Q20    If a body moves on the circumference of a circle with a speed equal to that which it would acquire by falling freely through half the radius of the circle, then prove that its centripetal acceleration equals  the acceleration of free ball.

Q21    A string length 1m is fixed at one end carries a mass 100 gm at other end. The string makes 2/ radians/sec around the horizontal circle. Find the tension in the string.

Q22    At which points on the projectile trajectory is

i)                   P.E. maximum

ii)                 K.E. maximum

iii)               Total energy maximum

Q23    Two bodies are thrown with same initial velocity at angles α and 90-α with the horizontal. What will be the ration of

i)                   Maximum heights attained by them

ii)                 Their horizontal ranges

Q24    A boy stands at 39.2 m from a building and throws a ball which just passes through a window 19.6, above the ground. Calculate the velocity of Projection of the ball.

Q25    The ceiling of a long ball is 25m high. What is the maximum horizontal distance that a ball thrown with a speed of 40m/sec. Can go without hitting the ceiling of the ball?

Q26    A stone is Projected horizontally from the top of the tower of height 50 m with a velocity of 10m/sec . Calculate

i)                   Time taken by ball to reach the ground.
